Maelezo ya Kozi
This course explores the dynamic relationship between Christianity and the African worldview, with the goal of equipping students to understand, evaluate, and minister effectively within African cultural contexts. Drawing from theology, anthropology, missiology, and ethics, the course examines how traditional African beliefs, values, and cosmology shape the way people understand life, community, the spirit world, suffering, and the divine.
The African worldview is characterized by a holistic vision of life—where the spiritual, physical, social, and ancestral realms are deeply interconnected. Key themes such as community over individualism, respect for elders, fear of spirits, ancestor veneration, the role of rituals, and the understanding of power, healing, and destiny will be examined in depth.
From a Reformed theological perspective, the course affirms the authority and sufficiency of Scripture in evaluating cultural beliefs and practices.
