Our Mission
To raise up Church leaders grounded in Scripture, sound doctrine, and a pastoral heart.
STS is a theological school dedicated to teaching God's Word with faithfulness and integrity.
To raise up Church leaders grounded in Scripture, sound doctrine, and a pastoral heart.
A Church built upon the Word of God, honoring Christ in every generation.
The history of Shekinah Theological Seminary is closely connected with the missionary work of Missionary Boyeon Lee from South Korea, who first came to Tanzania in 1995 and later returned in 1997 for formal missionary service. She served under Africa Inland Mission and Africa Inland Church Tanzania, teaching at Kolandoto Bible College, helping in church planting, and discipling young people called to ministry.
In 2003, she met Daniel John Seni at Kolandoto Bible College. After his studies, Daniel became one of her disciples. In 2006, Missionary Lee, together with Daniel Seni, Yakobo Jimoku, and Eliya John, moved to Dar es Salaam, where the discipleship ministry became known as Shekinah Mission Centre.
On May 13, 2007, the first official worship service was held in Mikocheni under the Presbyterian Church in Tanzania, and the ministry later became known as Shekinah Presbyterian Church Tanzania (SPCT). In 2008, land was purchased in Madale, Dar es Salaam, which became the permanent ministry base. Regular worship services began there on August 1, 2010.
After many years of ministry and growth, SPCT became an autonomous denomination following a decision made at the PCT General Assembly on July 11, 2025. The next day, SPCT pastors met and agreed to establish a theological college named Shekinah Theological Seminary (STS).
STS is managed by Shekinah Presbyterian Church Tanzania, but it welcomes students from different denominations across Tanzania. Its purpose is to prepare knowledgeable, faithful, ethical, and mission-minded servants for the Church and the wider society.
