Graduation requirements, admission criteria, and how to begin your journey at Shekinah Theological Seminary.

Graduation Requirements

In order to qualify for graduation from Shekinah Theological Seminary, a student must satisfy the following requirements:

Requirement A

Completion of Academic Program

The student must successfully complete all prescribed courses in their program of study, attaining a passing grade in each course.

Requirement B

Minimum Credit Hours

The student must have earned the total number of credit hours required for the certificate or diploma program.

Requirement C

Faithfulness in Spiritual Life

The student must demonstrate consistent participation in the spiritual life of the seminary, including:

  • Attendance at all Early Morning Prayers (Maombi ya Alfajiri) without lateness.
  • Attendance at all chapel services (at least 90%).
  • Attendance at all scheduled prayer meetings and spiritual gatherings.

Requirement D

Good Conduct

The student must maintain a record of good moral character and Christian conduct, showing respect to faculty, fellow students, and the seminary community.

Requirement E

Practical Ministry Participation

The student must actively participate in assigned ministry and fieldwork programs as part of their training.

Requirement F

Financial Clearance

All tuition fees and any other financial obligations to the seminary must be fully settled before graduation.

Requirement G

Recommendation by Faculty

The student must be recommended for graduation by the faculty and administration, confirming that all academic, spiritual, and ethical requirements have been met.

Admission Requirements

STS welcomes applicants from diverse educational, denominational, and cultural backgrounds who demonstrate a sincere calling to Christian ministry and a willingness to be trained for faithful service. Our admission process is guided by both academic readiness and spiritual commitment.

Section A

General Entry Requirements

Applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

  • Be a born-again Christian with a clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ.
  • Demonstrate a sense of calling to ministry or Christian service.
  • Be at least 18 years old at the time of application.
  • Be willing to submit to the spiritual and academic life of the Seminary.

Educational Background

Certificate in Bible

Standard Seven (Tanzania)

Certificate in Theology

Ordinary Level (Form IV) or equivalent — no prior theological background required

Diploma in Theology

Advanced Level (Form VI) or a recognized theological certificate from an accredited institution

Note

STS also admits mature applicants who may not have completed formal academic qualifications but can demonstrate significant ministry experience and spiritual maturity.

Required Documents

Applicants must submit:

Completed application form (from the Admissions Office)
Copy of national ID, voter's card, or passport
Copies of academic transcripts or school leaving certificates
Two recent passport-size photographs
A personal testimony of faith and calling
Copy of marriage certificate (if married)
Copy of baptism certificate
Recommendation letter from a pastor
Proof of payment for the admission fee

Section D

Interview and Assessment

All applicants may be required to attend a brief interview (in person or by phone) with the Dean of Admissions or a designated faculty member. This is to assess the applicant's motivation, spiritual maturity, and readiness for theological study.

Before admission, applicants will participate in an assessment process that includes the following components:

Component 1

Written Examination

To evaluate the applicant's level of understanding of the Bible.

Component 2

Interview

To determine calling to ministry, readiness for theological studies, and willingness to learn.
