The Study of Job

1.5 saa za mkopo

Maelezo ya Kozi

This course offers an in-depth theological exploration of the book of Job, focusing on its treatment of human suffering, divine sovereignty, and the mystery of God's providence. The book of Job stands as one of the most profound pieces of wisdom literature in the Bible, addressing the question of why the righteous suffer and how believers should respond to affliction in light of God's holiness and sovereignty.

Maintaining a Reformed perspective, this course emphasizes the Creator-creature distinction, the righteousness of God, the limitations of human wisdom, and the ultimate hope found in God's redemptive purposes. The narrative structure, poetic dialogues, and divine speeches will be examined in detail, with particular focus on Job's integrity, the role of Satan, the counsel of Job's friends, and God's final self-revelation.

Students will be encouraged to see Job not merely as a book of philosophical speculation, but as a deeply pastoral text that points to Christ, our innocent sufferer, intercessor, and redeemer.
