The Rise of Prophetic Ministry in Africa

1.5 saa za mkopo

Maelezo ya Kozi

This course explores the theological, historical, and sociocultural dimensions of the rise of prophetic ministry in Africa, particularly from the late 20th century to the present. With an explosion of self-proclaimed prophets, healing crusades, and supernatural claims, prophetic movements have gained significant influence across the continent.

The course seeks to critically assess the biblical foundations of prophetic ministry, distinguishing between true, Spirit-led prophecy and counterfeit or manipulative expressions. Students will examine the Old and New Testament models of prophetic office, message, and function. The course will also explore how traditional African religious worldviews have shaped modern prophetic expressions, sometimes resulting in syncretism and spiritual abuse.

A Reformed theological perspective will guide the evaluation of modern prophetic claims. Emphasis will be placed on the sufficiency of Scripture, the authority of Christ as the final Prophet, and the importance of testing spirits (1 John 4:1).
