The Study of the Synoptic Gospels

1.5 saa za mkopo

Maelezo ya Kozi

This course offers an in-depth study of the Synoptic Gospels—Matthew, Mark, and Luke—which present a unified yet distinct narrative of the life, ministry, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The course investigates the theological themes, literary structures, historical settings, and redemptive purpose of these Gospels while maintaining a high view of Scripture, consistent with Reformed theology.

Special attention is given to the similarities and differences among the Synoptics, often referred to as the "Synoptic Problem," and the implications of this relationship for understanding Gospel harmony. Emphasis is placed on the centrality of Christ's identity, His fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy, His proclamation of the Kingdom of God, His authority in teaching and miracles, and the necessity of His atoning death and victorious resurrection.

Rooted in the Reformed emphasis on covenant fulfillment and Christ-centered interpretation, this course highlights how the Synoptic Gospels reveal the unfolding of God's redemptive plan, which finds its climax in the cross and resurrection of Jesus.
