Maelezo ya Kozi
This course presents a profound and reverent study of the Doctrine of God (Theology Proper)—the heart of all Christian theology and life. In this course, students will explore who God is, what He has revealed about Himself, and how this knowledge shapes everything: worship, holiness, ministry, and mission. The goal is not only intellectual understanding but awe-filled communion with the living God.
Drawing heavily from Scripture, confessional standards (such as the Westminster Confession and the Belgic Confession), and classic Reformed theology, this course addresses the attributes of God, His names, His Triune nature, His decrees, His providence, and His covenantal relationship with creation and His people. Emphasis is placed on the aseity, immutability, omniscience, omnipotence, justice, mercy, sovereignty, and glory of God.
Students will also be trained to respond to common theological errors and distortions in both global and African contexts—such as the reduction of God to a tribal deity, false images of God in prosperity theology, or shallow emotionalism disconnected from God's holiness. This course insists that right knowledge of God leads to right worship and right living.
The doctrine of God is not speculative—it is pastoral, devotional, and transformational. Therefore, students will be challenged to pursue a life of holiness, humility, and God-centered ministry, rooted in the grandeur of who God is.
