Maelezo ya Kozi
This course examines the major developments in the global Christian Church from the 17th century to the present, with a focus on theological, ecclesiastical, and missional movements. Students will explore the impact of the Enlightenment, the rise of rationalism and liberal theology, the Evangelical awakenings, the growth of global missions, the rise of denominations, and the modern challenges of secularism, persecution, and theological fragmentation.
Special attention will be given to the global expansion of Christianity, especially in Africa, the theological struggles of the 19th and 20th centuries, the rise of Pentecostalism, and the increasing need for Reformed theological clarity in the modern church. Students will also reflect on the African church's modern experience in relation to colonization, independence movements, and the explosion of Christian faith across the continent.
