Maelezo ya Kozi

This course equips students with the biblical, theological, and practical foundations of pastoral care and Christian counselling. It explores the role of the pastor as a shepherd, listener, guide, comforter, and spiritual physician, rooted in the ministry of Jesus Christ—the Chief Shepherd. Students will learn to provide wise, compassionate, and theologically grounded care for individuals facing spiritual, emotional, relational, or moral challenges.

The course emphasizes the sufficiency of Scripture, the work of the Holy Spirit, and the community of the church as central to pastoral healing. Key topics include grief, crisis intervention, marriage and family challenges, addiction, depression, spiritual doubt, sin, and restoration. Special attention is given to common African pastoral issues such as fear of curses, generational problems, ancestral bondage, and cultural stigmas.
