Maelezo ya Kozi
The Book of Numbers is a theological narrative that documents the journey of Israel from Mount Sinai to the edge of the Promised Land. It is a powerful testimony of God's faithfulness, judgment, and patience amid Israel's repeated rebellion. This course offers an in-depth examination of the book's structure, themes, historical context, and its place in redemptive history.
Students will explore the key episodes—including the census, the arrangement of the camp, the role of the Levites, the twelve spies, Korah's rebellion, Balaam's prophecies, and the journey to Moab. From a Reformed theological perspective, Numbers is a sobering reminder of the consequences of unbelief and the necessity of perseverance in faith, while pointing forward to Christ as the true and faithful Israelite.
Students will be equipped to apply the theological themes of trust, leadership, obedience, holiness, intercession, and inheritance to Christian life and ministry—especially in African contexts where issues of community life, leadership conflict, and spiritual warfare are significant.
