Maelezo ya Kozi
This course offers a comprehensive study of 2 Samuel and 1 Kings, tracing the theological, historical, and political developments during the monarchy of Israel from the reign of David to the division of the kingdom after Solomon. The course begins by exploring the continuation of Israel's monarchy under King David, highlighting his triumphs, failures, and the complex dynamics of royal leadership, divine covenant, and national unity.
The transition to 1 Kings focuses on Solomon's ascension, his wisdom, temple construction, wealth, and the consequences of his later apostasy. The course then moves into the narratives surrounding the division of the kingdom into Israel and Judah, exploring the moral and theological failures of successive kings and the rising role of prophets as spokesmen of God, especially during times of spiritual decline.
Students will be guided through close textual analysis, historical-cultural background, theological implications, and contemporary applications of leadership, worship, justice, and covenantal faithfulness.
