Maelezo ya Kozi
This course examines the Books of Ruth and 1 Samuel as a theological bridge between the period of the judges and the establishment of kingship in Israel. It explores God's sovereign work of redemption, providence, and leadership transition—from individual faithfulness in Ruth to national transformation under Samuel, Saul, and the rise of David.
The Book of Ruth presents a powerful narrative of covenant loyalty (hesed), divine providence in suffering, and the inclusion of Gentiles in God's redemptive plan. Ruth, a Moabite woman, becomes an ancestor of David and ultimately Christ, highlighting God's sovereign grace and the unfolding of messianic hope through ordinary people.
1 Samuel narrates the transition from tribal judges to monarchy, with key focus on God's sovereignty over leadership, the danger of human-centered kingship, and the rise of David as God's chosen servant. It contrasts the failures of Eli and Saul with the humble beginnings and faithful heart of David. Together, Ruth and 1 Samuel set the stage for the Davidic covenant and messianic fulfillment.
