Maelezo ya Kozi
This course offers a comprehensive theological and exegetical study of the book of Isaiah, one of the most significant prophetic writings in the Old Testament. Often called the "fifth Gospel," Isaiah presents a sweeping vision of God's holiness, judgment, redemption, and future hope, with profound messianic prophecies that directly anticipate the person and work of Jesus Christ.
The course is divided into major thematic and historical sections: the oracles of judgment and hope in chapters 1–39, the promises of restoration and the suffering servant in chapters 40–55, and the eschatological visions of renewal and glory in chapters 56–66. Students will examine Isaiah's message within the context of 8th-century Judah under Assyrian threat, as well as its enduring theological significance for both Israel and the Church.
Special attention will be given to Isaiah's doctrine of God—His sovereignty, holiness, and righteousness—as well as to the Servant Songs, which foreshadow Christ's atoning work. The course will also address key prophetic themes: covenant faithfulness, social justice, the remnant, idolatry, judgment, and eschatological restoration. A Reformed hermeneutic will guide interpretation, with emphasis on Christ-centered exegesis and redemptive-historical context.
