Historical and Modern Heresies
Maelezo ya Kozi
This course provides a critical study of major heresies that have threatened the Church throughout its history, from the early centuries to the contemporary era. Students will examine how false teachings arose in different contexts, how the Church responded to them, and how many of these errors persist today in modified or rebranded forms.
The course is structured around key doctrinal areas—the Trinity, Christology, salvation, Scripture, and the Church—showing how deviations from biblical truth distort the gospel. Special attention is given to heresies such as Gnosticism, Arianism, Pelagianism, as well as modern heresies such as Prosperity Theology, Liberal Theology, and New Age spirituality.
Students will develop apologetic and pastoral skills to engage with heresies in real-life ministry.
